The new trending song, “Barota,” is a posthumous release by the beloved artist Sidhu Moose Wala. As fans know, the rapper recorded many songs before his tragic assassination, and his family and friends are now working tirelessly to release his unreleased catalogue.

In Punjabi, “Barota” literally means an old, large Banyan or Peepal tree, symbolising deep roots, history, and a place for community gathering. However, in the context of the song, Sidhu Moose Wala uses “Barota” to refer to a Punjabi young man who embodies a powerful legacy and strong leadership. This character is described as having deep thoughts, abiding by his own rules, being a man of his word, and possessing a large, muscular physique, all while helping needy people.

Sidhu Moose Wala wrote and sang the song himself, which centres on a love story. The video’s narrative begins with the male lead saving a family from some local goons, leading him to meet and instantly fall in love with the main female lead, played by Sweetaj Brar. The lyrics express how the powerful, muscular young man, who possesses all the qualities of a leader, feels completely vulnerable in the presence of his lover.

Adding a touching personal element, Sidhu Moose Wala’s real father, Sardar Balkaur Singh Sidhu, also features in the music video. Given that Sidhu is no longer with us, the director, Tru Makers, utilized his picture and various technologies to feature him as the main male lead. The music was produced by The Kidd.

The song is trending worldwide, quickly achieving first place on music charts. The video is receiving a massive and emotional response from Sidhu Moose Wala’s fans. Watching the high-quality production, it’s easy to feel as though Sidhu is still with us; his powerful songs will undoubtedly keep his memory and legacy alive for decades to come.
